7:00PM – A Special Edition of the Milwaukee WordPress Meetup featuring John James Jacoby up close and personal

Debugging WordPress – We will be learning the keys to debugging WordPress and getting to the bottom of all of those problems you have with your WordPress site, custom theme, or plugin. JJJ, core dev for WordPress, WordPress.com VIP, and lead dev on BuddyPress and BBPress will get down and dirty and let us know how to find all those WP bugs that are hiding.

This is a great opportunity to get out and meet some of your fellow WordCampers before WordCamp begins. We will be having some food and drink at the Meetup and giving ample time to mingle and talk. Following the meetup, we will be looking for volunteers to help begin the event setup.

Friday, June 7 – Foundation Friday

Foundation Friday gets you started in using or developing with WordPress! Come for an afternoon long WorkShop getting you started on the fundamentals of WordPress. The day will be starting at 1PM and going until 5PM with 4 solid hours of WordPress learning with the following tracks:

1PM – 5PM – WordPress User 101

This workshop will teach you what you need to know to get your own WordPress website up and running. A group of WordPress pros will guide you on a lecture and hands-on training to show you what is needed to get on the web using WordPress. This is great for a WordPress beginner and no previous knowledge is needed. You will learn the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, where to go to get your WordPress site, how to create posts and pages, how to choose themes, how to add plugins, and more!

1PM – 5PM – WordPress Developer 101

This workshop will get you started in developing your own themes and plugins using WordPress. Our WordPress Development Pros will show you the ropes so you can get started customizing your WordPress install to your heart’s content. This workshop is great for someone who has a knowledge of WordPress and has run their own site and has a good understanding of HTML and CSS with a basic knowledge of PHP. You don’t need to be an expert in any, though. You will learn about custom post types, custom taxonomies, template tags, template hierarchy, actions, filters, and more!
