For those who want to get in a little early on the WordPress fun, we are having our normal monthly WordPress Meetup on the night before WordCamp starts. We’ll chat about WordPress, get to know each other, and probably grab a bite to eat.

We will be meeting at our normal Meetup site, C2 Graphics. Please, join the Milwaukee WordPress Meetup and RSVP here if you plan to attend. C2 will be providing Pizza and refreshments for the night and we will have another great WordPress discussion.

Foundation Friday Workshops

Back by popular demand are our Foundation Friday WordPress Workshops. These workshops are meant to bring people up to par and ready for the weekend. We will be having intro workshops for Users, Theme Developers, and Plugin Developers. We listened to feedback from last year, and this year we will be having tables where you can work with your laptops and will be presenting a more structured curriculum to prepare you for your journey with WordPress. These workshops are limited participation with each one registering a maximum of 40 attendees.

WordCamp Charity Hackathon

8:00am-??? – UWM SoCE & Bucketworks

We will join together to help out one Wisconsin based non-profit organization to provide a full web presence for their organization. WordPress experts will join forces to each provide their specific expertise to a WordPress project for a select non-profit organization. This is a great opportunity for any attendee to lend a hand while learning from other WordPress pros. Everyone is invited to come lend a hand, no matter your level of experience. More than just designers and developers are needed. We will also be looking for people to test the product, write content, help with social media, provide training, and more.

The Hackathon will begin at the WordCamp venue during the morning on Friday and continue throughout the day. After WordCamp workshops end, people are welcome to continue hacking on the site throughout the night at Bucketworks, only a couple floors down in the Grand Avenue Mall. Representatives from the non-profit will be on hand to learn about WordPress and work alongside those creating the site.

We will be posting an official announcement on the Hackathon and selected Non-Profit soon.

Speaker/Sponsor Reception

We’d like to thank our gracious sponsors and speakers. Our sponsors allow us to give you a great WordCamp experience at a very low ticket price. Our speakers have been gracious enough to volunteer their time to speak to you, some even paying their own travel expenses to visit Milwaukee. We plan to thank them with a special reception so everyone can get to know each other. This is open only to speakers, sponsors, and organizers.

WordCamp After-Party

Following a long day of WordCamp, everyone needs to let loose and relax while talking with fellow attendees. We will be having an after-party shortly after the last session ends so you can network with other attendees and speakers. This is open to all attendees and you will need to present your badge for admission.

This year, the WordCamp After-Party will take place at the Miller Time Pub, which is only blocks away from the venue. More info on the after-party will be posted prior to the event.
