WordCamp Milwaukee 2017 has been canceled

To the WordPress community of Milwaukee and beyond:

Due to numerous planning complications, limited resources, and time restrictions/delays, the organizing team has regrettably decided to cancel this year’s WordCamp Milwaukee on October 14-15 at the University of Wisconsin School of Continuing Education.

We are sincerely thankful to everyone who expressed interest in speaking, volunteering, and sponsoring WordCamp Milwaukee 2017 (especially the WordCamp global sponsors). We thank you for your continuing support of WordCamp, WordPress, its amazing community, and open-source software. Your efforts are noted, appreciated, and commendable.

We will take the work done thus far and apply it toward making WCMKE 2018 a big success. This way, our collective time and energy are not wasted, and we have a head start on next year.

Thank you for understanding this difficult decision. We look forward to seeing you all in 2018. Please follow us on social media to keep up with the latest news:

SPONSOR EXPECTATIONS

  • All sponsorships are donations to the WordPress community and although we try to give a level of promotion based on our gratitude none of the outlined points or any level of marketing promotion are guaranteed with your sponsorship. This is only a guideline of what we would like to give in gratitude, if possible. We encourage our sponsors to engage with our community and learn themselves rather than use this opportunity purely for promotion.
  • If you or your company deals in WordPress-derivative works (plugins, themes, etc), those must be 100% GPL (not split license) or compatible, the same guidelines followed on WordPress.org.
  • Sponsors may apply for speaking opportunities but will not be guaranteed to speak.
  • Funds must be received before sponsorship is announced.
  • Any excess proceeds from the event are donated to the non-profit WordPress foundation to help future WordPress events.
  • We are willing to discuss unique or alternate sponsorship opportunities.
